[Birth Anniversary] Special exhibition: Letters from a famous person and materials related to the Olympics

October 28 is Kano Jigoro Shihan's birthday.

Commemorating the day, Kodokan Judo Museum will exhibit letters from a famous person and also materials related to the Olympics, for four days from Wednesday October 25 to Sunday October 28.

The letters that were addressed to Kano Shihan were from Former Prime Minister Tsuyoshi Inukai. Fuminoha AR viewer, OCR techniques developed by Toppan Printing, made it possible to read old-time handwritings in translation of modern Japanese and English. If you hold an iPad toward the letter, you can read it in Japanese or English. The viewer also has a voice reading function.

Concerning materials related to the Olympics, more than ten valuable materials will be exhibited including the program of 1912 Stockholm Olympics in which Japan firstly participated, an IOC member's budge that was worn by Kano Jigoro Shihan during Los Angeles Olympics and a top hat that was Kano Shihan's favorite.

Judo Museum is open from 10 AM to 5 PM.
