[Birth Anniversary] Lecture and Symposium (in Japanese)

October 28 is the birthday of Kano Jigoro Shihan.

Commemorating the day, the Kodokan and Bunkyo Ward will co-organize an event titled "Kano Jigoro Shihan and the Olympics" that consists of lectures and a symposium.

 

In the morning, commemorative lectures will be held. They will include topics on Shiso Kanakuri who participated in the marathon at Stockholm Olympics in 1912 as the first Japanese athlete and also on Kano Shihan's struggles to host Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1940.

In the afternoon, three athletes- Ayumi Tanimoto (Gold Medalist of Olympics in Athens and Beijing), Yoshie Ueno (Bronze Medalist of London Olympics) and Ayumi Ishii (Silver Medalist of Asian Para Games 2018) -will talk on their Olympic Games.

 

Booklets Words of Kano Jigoro Shihan will be offered to all visitors. (Size A5, 80 pages, not for sale. Words are written in both Japanese and English.)
