Jigoro Kano's Birthday Events will be held
22 Oct 2015
Kodokan will hold Jigoro Kano's Birthday Events commemorating his birthday on October 28, 1860. He is the founder of Kodokan Judo and is called The Father of Education.
He was committed to the promotion of Japanese physical education and also contributed to the development of the Olympic Movement as the first Asian member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
During the events, Kodokan will provide his real voice (taped lecture) and will exhibit his last, real passport.
"Trying Calligraphy" is a workshop to write Kano Shihan's word with a brush, watching his calligraphy as a model. The aim of the workshop is to have time to touch Kano Shihan, learning the meaning of his word and considering why he left the word.
Please see the flyer below to see other events that will be held during the period. We look forward to your active participation in the events.
During the period, we will offer special plastic folders that commemorate this Birthday Events to the first 50 people each day at the reception of Kodokan Judo Museum.
