The Kodokan international Judo seminar 2014 and the Judo seminar for JICA Volunteers
30 Oct 2014
The Kodokan international Judo seminar 2014 and the Judo seminar for JICA Volunteers were held for 23 days from September 9 to October 1, 2014.
The purpose of the international seminar is to diffuse Kodokan Judo over the world in the proper way, improving the coaching structure of orthodox Kodokan Judo by bringing up highly-skilled coaches who are well enough educated and have established the basis of Judo teaching. To achieve the purpose, we provide the education of both theories and techniques on the basis of orthodox Kodokan Judo, for young coaches who will be the leaders of Judo in the country.
At the same time, we provide a Training course of Judo technique for JICA Volunteers. The purpose of the training is to improve their technique and knowledge of Judo, to be able to respond to the needs of the country where they will be sent.
Scenes of seminar
Visited Eisho-Ji temple, Asakusa, Zojo-Ji temple and the Tokyo tower
They visited Eisho-Ji temple (the place where Judo originated), Asakusa, Zojo-Ji temple and the Tokyo tower as a part of an activity - the teaching volunteer of Japanese language - that is a joint project with Ferris University.
(We, Kodokan, conduct the tour to introduce Japanese culture to foreign coaches not only on tatami, but also at cultural places. We visit various places in Tokyo, and the volunteer staffs of Ferris University students accompany them. They teach Japanese and at the same time establish cultural ties with foreign coaches.)
Performing Kata
On the last day, every student performed Kata that they learned in the seminar. The scenes of the ending celebration
